Connect two classes for small-group international exchange.

OISE helps educators shape practical, ongoing exchanges between university classes, where students meet in pairs or small groups and build real communication over time.

What is OISE?

A classroom-to-classroom exchange, designed at human scale.

OISE helps two university classes build flexible, small-group international exchange through conversation and shared activities.

OISE is operated by the Global Collaborative Learning Initiative (GCLI).

Ways an exchange can take shape

As simple or as developed as the two classes need.

OISE is not a prescribed activity format. It is a way for two educators to connect their classes and agree on an exchange that fits.

An OISE exchange can be as simple as students meeting online for guided conversation, or it can grow into shared activities, reflections, presentations, or collaborative work. The two educators decide together what is realistic for their course goals, enrollment, time zones, and students.
